Pundits keep forgetting this when speculating about the post election aftermath – the Prime Minister can no longer ask the Queen to dissolve Parliament under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011.

I wonder what the electorate would do to a PM who asked MPs to pass a vote of no confidence in his own government?

I doubt he’d get the result he was hoping for…

And would new MPs and those in marginal seats with a five year fixed term contract at £67k per annum plus expenses really vote to end that FTC early and risk their seats? 😉
